I believe that relaxation will lead me to happiness. I have not always been able to relax, but i have learned through recent events the benefits of it. when I am relaxed, people want to be near me because they know that I wont loose my cool. I can keep calm in these situations because I know that I can solve these problems faster when I am not scatterbrained.
Relaxation will bring me peace. In the car when I am driving, people do foolish things. I, however, may leave it to be judged by a simple, “that’s cool too” or similar reaction. This is because I know I cannot control another persons behavior, but know that they will learn to correct it some day. Relaxing can also help me win arguments; keeping a clear head enables me to discover commanding ideas that will either calm down, or force an epiphany on the opposing argument, enabling victory.
When I was sixteen, my garage caught on fire. I am the one who found this inferno first, I walked my way over to where my father and said,
“hey dad, did you know the garage is on fire?”
“no that’s smoke from the neighbors.”
“no, the garage is on fire.”
We then ran to get the fire extinguishers, and my parents ran outside to extinguish the landing in our garage, thankfully that was all we had to replace.
Relaxation will bring me friendship. I have never had any desire to be near someone who was stressed out, or never satisfied with their current situation. People who can’t find joy in their current situation never can be truly happy; neither can people who are constantly putting themselves in stressful situations. By being relaxed, all of my friends know that if they are having troubles between one another, I can be an objective mediator because I can think through each side without getting frustrated or angry. getting angry very rarely solves a situation that a leader deals with, which positions me to take the role of a leader if and when the situation calls for it.
When i got into a serious car accident, i had already learned to stay calm. This meant that knew to check if i was hurt, get out of the car to safety, and call emergency services immediately. Thankfully i was not hurt, and i could get out of the car fine. On the phone with emergency services i let them know that i wasn’t hurt, but that the car was starting to light the forest on fire
All in all, I know that I will be happier relaxing. It also seems to help keep stressful situations more under control than stressing does. I know that it is impossible to always relax; a major world crisis happens, a loved one dies, and many other things can call for a non-relaxed response. On the other hand, maybe all of these situations could be benefited by a relaxed thought process in some way. After all, a world leader would have to remain calm and decide the next course of action for his people, and someone has to plan the funeral.
